Ah! The Golden Days of Fall are upon us and my favorite time to fish.

The Upper Salmon River is fishing well. Wild Westslope Cutthroat Trout, hatchery rainbow, some bull trout and mountain whitefish are active. The Cutthroat and bull trout are both catch and release. Hatchery Rainbow trout will have a clipped adipose fin and have a limit of 6. The Salmon River, the Dredge Ponds, the Kid’s Pond at the Sawtooth Hatchery and Valley Creek have all been stocked recently with Rainbow Trout.

High Lakes are also fishing well with some voracious Cutthroat and Rainbow still pretty active. Maybe the shorter days signal them to ” stock up ” on their food supply and bulk up. Sure makes it fun to fish for them.

Hours are 9:00 am to 6:00 pm
